My career has taken me from qualifying as a Medical Herbalist in 2001 to formulating complimentary medicines for a leading Australian health food brand in 2016. Since then I have been largely employed in the learning and development sector.
My personal journey has been far more arduous. For the majority of my childhood my mother suffered from severe depression and my stepfather molested me. I believe this trauma has had a profound impact on my life.
Fast forward to a divorce and two toxic relationships which saw me deal with the horrors of domestic violence, resulting in a broken leg on one occasion. Another relationship again involved police which saw me flee for my safety and live in temporary accommodation. My Dad was convinced I would be killed by this man.
I have created a new life for myself which was free from all the self doubt, limiting beliefs and the complete lack of boundaries which had lead to these situations.
I was determined to implement change in my life. Beginning with Theta Healing work, I was able to secure fulltime employment in a job I loved. Eventually I attained enough self-worth to finally have my first loving, healthy and non-toxic relationship. Adrian and I met in June 2021 and we married in March 2023.
The journey continued with Mental Health Coaching, Root-Cause Therapy, and further studies in trauma. My learning journey is far from over. I am passionate about empowering others with the skills I have gained over the last four years.
The life I now lead is one I thought was reserved for others. This is the sort of change I want to work with you to create for yourself.
All consultations are done by Zoom. I use a variety of tools to empower you with all the skills you need to make positive change in your life. The core of my work is focused on removing the mental blocks and limiting beliefs that have such a negative influence on our quality of life. No two sessions are the same. There is no one-size-fits
All consultations are done by Zoom. I use a variety of tools to empower you with all the skills you need to make positive change in your life. The core of my work is focused on removing the mental blocks and limiting beliefs that have such a negative influence on our quality of life. No two sessions are the same. There is no one-size-fits-all approach. I meet you where you are at and we work together to shape a future that is based on your own unique values.
Mental Health Coaches are approved to treat mild to moderate depression and anxiety. I use Acceptance & Commitment Therapy which largely focuses on accepting that we are not always in control of our thoughts. We have to accept our thoughts can be unhelpful and are often designed to protect us from potential trauma. We use techniques to focus on what is within our control.
I will not rescue you
For you are not powerless
I will not fix you
For you are not broken
I will not heal you
For I see you in your wholeness
I will walk you through the darkness
As you remember your light
-Sheree Bliss Tilsley
You can rise up from anything. You can completely recreate yourself. Nothing is permanent. You're not stuck. You have choices. You can think new thoughts. You can learn something new. You can create new habits. You can meet new people. All that matters is that you decide today and not look back.
"Jen supported me through a very challenging time, listening and guiding and offering advice that always hit the mark. Jen is intuitive, warm, empathetic and above all genuine. Jen tailored her approach to my individual needs and navigated me through some difficult decisions and realisations. I am very grateful I reached out to Jen and I would highly recommend others doing so too".
"Jenni was welcoming and kind-hearted. She made each of our sessions feel more like a conversation (in a professional way), allowing me to express my thoughts and gain useful strategies and insights on different ways to approach situations in the future. I couldn’t recommend Jenni & Reaching Resilience enough."
"Thank you so much for the session last week. I've taken a lot from it. You gave me some courage to let work/life stuff go. Feeling so much better, thank you".

At its heart, mental health coaching is about helping clients move forward and create meaningful changes for a better tomorrow. As a coach I recognise that you are the expert on you. During our sessions I will be able to provide lifestyle medicine advice, use Acceptance & Commitment Therapy tools. Diagnosing and prescribing are beyond my scope, should you require these services you will need to visit a registered health professional. The coaching relationship exists to facilitate the creation and development of goals and enable you to develop an action plan/strategy to achieve them.
Mental health coaching incorporates coaching, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy tools, and Lifestyle Medicine techniques. These are all within my scope of practice and are tools I will use during our coaching sessions. As a mental health coach, I am not licensed to diagnose clients, prescribe medication, or advise clients to alter their treatment plan from their usual healthcare provider. I can, however, offer support and guidance on how you might go about having these conversations with your healthcare provider. As a mental health coach, I am future-focused and although I take a trauma-informed approach to my work, delving into past trauma or psychological injuries is beyond my scope. If during our sessions I recognise that therapy may be a worthwhile and meaningful intervention for you, I may initiate a conversation about referring you on to a suitably qualified health care professional.
As a PREKURE certified Mental Health Coach, I undergo an annual recertification process that includes engaging in ten hours of Continued Professional Development (CPD) and four annual Coaching Supervision sessions to ensure my knowledge and skills remain current.
Each meeting, we’ll begin with a brief chat about where things are at, gain some insight and consider new options. We’ll explore and work through these, to develop a new set of actions for the coming session. Each session, we will be working together to create tangible progress toward your goal. Mental health coaching may include values and communication-style clarifying questions, making empowering requests and holding you accountable to commitments and exploring acceptance and commitment therapy tools that you can implement in your daily life.
As you have primarily engaged me for mental health coaching, I will at times give you specific and/or expert advice, information, and solutions, however you remain in control and responsible for all choices and decisions.
There is a plethora of evidence to support the use of lifestyle medicine as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
The efficacy of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) has been evaluated in many randomised controlled trials investigating a broad range of target conditions. Across 20 meta-analyses, 133 studies and 12,477 participants, results show that ACT is efficacious for all conditions examined including anxiety, depression, substance use, pain and transdiagnostic groups.
Results also showed that ACT was generally superior to inactive controls (eg waitlist, placebo) treatment as usual and most active intervention conditions (excluding CBT.)
